US may cede to Iran’s nuclear ambition

I think this could turn out to be the pragmatic, smart solution. Read the article.

This is about Afghanistan but i dont feel like creating a new thread.

Dodgy terrorist blog apparently hosted on a Canadian server.

Some of it is rather funny like the way it's translated. Puppet army terrorists, invader army tanks, NATO invader army...

Oh yeah - source -> http://arstechnica.com/tech-policy/n...at-servers.ars

Zakaria gets it right.

Netanjahu is the worst thing that could happen to the middle east.

Well, be surprised then Too much black 'n white, for my taste.
Why do you ask ? Have you read the article ?

I am a fan of Fareed Zakaria though, notably a self described centrist. If Moore is b/w, Zakaria is everything from grey to very colourful

Iran is still the breeding ground for terrorists and by no means a free country. Who is going to believe them they don't want "the bomb" ? By they i mean the ayatollahs, president M. and other corrupt power hungry bastards.

I disagree. Pakistan is the breeding ground for terrorists. But of course Iran (among other nations in the area, for example Syria or Pakistan itself) is sending money.

And why not believe them ?
1) They know that Israel would never allow them to have the bomb in the first place, and I don't think they would want to provoke a war.
2) They have signaled their readiness for talks. Iran might just have the intention to be CLOSE to having a nuclear bomb - as an option. I could live with that. Japan is doing the same.
3) Ahmadi-Nejad is quite unpolular (at least in the bigger cities) for removing Iran from the international community. It looks like Mousavi could be the new guy soon.

Of course I am not saying that they will ever be Israels closest buddy. They have their interests, they support terroristic activities where they are useful to them. But hell, what has the US done since WW2 ?

I'd say, give them the benefit of the doubt - and give them time until after the elections (June 12 !). No need yet to give up on Iran.

Yeah alright Iran is sending money to fund terrorist activities. Hard to ignore that. Can you predict what will happen to the middle east when Iran announces its first nuclear bomb? That's a lot of bargaining power. You tell me why Iran simply wont allow full inspections to their uranium enrichment powerplants.

I'm pretty sure that sooner or later Israel will call a pre-emptive strike on Iran when things get hot and well.. sit back and enjoy the show.

The US clearly states that every country should sign the nuclear non-proliferation treaty to come to a global agreement to reduce nuclear weapons in the world, not have yet another country build more.

black n white mate

M. Moore has some strong one-sided views on certain issues. Just something to be mindful of.

Letting inspectors in is one of the only bargaining chips Iran would have for negotiations with the US. In return they might get nuclear-energy-technology, or reduced sanctions etc.

I believe that Iran's leaders are realists when it comes to their nuclear ambitions. As you say, you are pretty sure of a pre-emptive strike. I guess Iran wouldn't risk that. They just want something in return for "giving up their nuclear program" - and they would be in a position to develop the bomb in a very short time.

Still better than Israel attacking Iran, IMO. Any war that could be prevented should be prevented. Especially if it involves Israel. This would crush all ambitions of negotiating any middle-eastern peace deal in the foreseeable future.

I can foresee the Taleban destabilising Pakistan to a degree which might just let Pakistans nuclear weapons (or the technology required to manufacture them) fall into the wrong hands.

Just a thought.

Yes, but don't get me started.
It's fine to speculate...

Wrong thread, IMO, but interesting question.

Obama was asked about this and said that the weapons would always be secure. This could only mean that the US military would seize control. Not gonna happen, though. Pakistan is finally fighting back.
